What should be noted about LED underground lights?

LED buried lights are now widely used in the decoration of parks, lawns, squares, courtyards, flower beds and pedestrian streets. However, in the early practical application, LED buried lights have a variety of problems. The biggest problem is waterproof.


At the beginning, it was believed that the LED Underground Light did not need to be waterproof at IP68 level, because it was not under the pressure of water as LED underwater light for a long time. But in fact, LED buried lights need to solve the waterproof problem. In practical application, LED buried lights are now on the ground or in the soil. In addition to dealing with rainy days or water immersion, they should also deal with the problem of heat expansion and cold contraction.

1. Shell: die-casting aluminum shell is a common choice, and there is no mistake that die-casting aluminum shell can be waterproof. However, due to the different casting methods, the case is different in terms of density (molecular density). When the shell material is sparse to a certain extent, water molecules will not be immersed in a short time of flushing and soaking. However, when the lamp shell is buried in the soil for a long time under the effect of cold and hot reverse suction, water will slowly penetrate into the lamp shell. Therefore, we suggest that the thickness of the shell should exceed 2.5mm, and use a die-casting machine with enough clamping.

2. Glass surface: tempered glass is the best choice, and the thickness should not be too thin. Avoid breaking water due to the stress of thermal expansion and cold contraction and the impact of foreign objects.

3. Heat dissipation and ventilation: Underground light have high heat, so good heat dissipation and ventilation are required to avoid excessive temperature difference between the inside and outside of the lamp body, water vapor, and sudden cooling and heating, which may lead to bad lamps. The direct or indirect contact area between the lamp housing and LED should be more than 80%, and air respirators, heat sinks, etc. can also be added.

4. Embedded parts: the embedded parts shall be as high as possible, and the lamp body will not be immersed until there is enough water.

5. Glue pouring: Glue pouring is carried out below the lamp body, and thermal conductive silica gel is poured on the lamp body.

6. Desiccant can also be added.
